Every price and calculation GoldGPT shows — on the site, in chat and through the AI assistant connector — uses the same rules. Spot basis. Prices derive from international spot gold in USD per troy ounce (31.1034768 g), converted to the target currency at the prevailing FX rate. Per-gram = per-ounce ÷ 31.1034768. One tola = 11.6638038 g. City rates. City figures are spot-derived and converted into the local currency. They deliberately exclude local dealer premium, hallmarking charges, import duty and taxes, so a real shop quote in that city is normally higher. We do not invent per-city premiums. Purity factors. 24K = 0.999, 23K = 23/24, 22K = 22/24, 21K = 21/24, 18K = 18/24, 14K = 14/24, 10K = 10/24, 9K = 9/24. Jewelry price. metal = 24K rate per gram × purity factor × weight; wastage = metal × wastage%; making = (metal + wastage) × making%; subtotal = metal + wastage + making − discount; total = subtotal + tax. Making charges, wastage, tax and discount are only applied when you supply them — there are no hidden defaults. Melt value. melt = 24K rate per gram × purity factor × weight. Dealers typically pay 92–98% of melt after assay; hallmarked pieces usually fetch the upper end. Freshness. Every result carries the price timestamp, the data source name and a status: live, delayed (cached data older than 30 minutes) or estimated (upstream feed unavailable). We never present a stale or estimated figure as live.
